What is CBG and Is it Right For Me?
You may have heard of CBD, but CBG? CBG is short for Cannabigerol (Can-a-big-erol), which is considered the “Mother of all Cannabinoids”, as THC and CBD are the “children” of CBG. THC and CBD would not exist without CBG because the cannabis plant uses CBG as a precursor to creating several cannabinoids, including THC and CBD.
During the growing of the cannabis plant, CBG continuously converts into CBD, THC, and other cannabinoids as the plant respond to environmental conditions such as heat, light, nutrition, stress, microorganism, etc. Because of this conversion, CBG concentrations are usually in 1% range or 10-20 times lower than THC. This is why CBG is difficult to identify, isolate, extract, and collect.
Despite the medical appeal and consumer demand, there’s one big hurdle to face: CBG is notoriously expensive to produce, so much, so it’s been dubbed the “the Rolls Royce” of cannabinoids. CBG can be five or six times more costly to produce than CBD.
At concentrated amounts to product efficacy in consumption, CBG has been studied and proven to demonstrate multiple health benefits where CBD may not. The good news is, CBG is NOT psychoactive but can be difficult to find responsible manufacturing companies to provide reasonably priced, quality, sustainable products. Still on the fence about trying CBG? Here are some benefits for using a product with added concentrated amounts of CBG:
Research suggests that CBG can help stimulate the growth of new brain cells, even in older patients. CBG inhibits GABA uptake, leading to muscle relaxation and anti-anxiety effects.
CBG has shown potential for alleviating pain. A 2:1 or 4:1 CBD|CBG ratio works best for pain-relieving.
Studies found that CBG increases aqueous flow, reducing intraocular pressure in glaucoma patients.
A 2006 study found evidence that cannabinoids, including CBG, could slow the progression and growth of tumors related to cancer.
CBG can be beneficial for colitis and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Many patients experienced the successful management of abdominal pain, poor appetite, weight loss, and nausea.
If you consume cannabis flower or concentrates, full and broad spectrum tinctures, you are more likely to receive CBG in your products. Rebel Naturals provides customized tinctures with increased CBG for additional health benefits.
